Water Microbiology Proficiency Testing Scheme
Laboratories play an important role in the monitoring of water, whether it is a water supply for recreational (including sea and swimming pool), commercial or domestic use, or wastes and effluents from industrial processes.
Microbiological testing of water may be undertaken for a number of reasons including the identification of possible harmful bacteria, determining compliance against standards (e.g. Drinking Water Standards) and meeting regulatory requirements.
